The Yorkshire Lawyer Awards 2010 - Celebrating a decade of excellence

The Charity

Yorkshire Cancer Research is a registered charity that funds research, principally in Yorkshire, into the causes and cures of cancer. We do this by fundraising in Yorkshire and providing awards to Yorkshire academic institutions. Through publishing and sharing the results of this research with the world's scientific community, Yorkshire Cancer Research hopes to develop more effective treatments for cancer sufferers world-wide.

259 people a week die from cancer in Yorkshire. By supporting us you will help reduce this figure & provide better treatments to cancer sufferers in the region.

Yorkshire Cancer Research raises its money in Yorkshire and spends it in Yorkshire at its five centres of excellence based at the universities of Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York and their associated teaching hospitals.

We’re the most successful regional medical research charity in the UK and we fund internationally recognised research, which focuses on a variety of cancers including: breast, bowel, cervical, non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, ovarian, prostate, skin, and genetics of cancers.

We are not a regional division of a national charity – we are an independent charity, based and operating in Yorkshire only. We are still, however, at the very forefront of the international fight to find a cure for cancer.

We’re working for a world without cancer There are many ways you can support us. By taking part in one of our fundraising events, signing up to direct debit, making a one off donation or leaving a gift in your will. Visit www.ycr.org.uk or call 01423 877210 for more information.
